But running the Farmer’s Market gives her scope to broaden her mission, taking our Farmer’s Market to the next level.

Our Town host Maryanne McNellis interviews Dick Schneider, the owner of Rain Coast Farms, about his innovative program to bring orchids back to life. Schneider runs a unique “Orchid Recovery Program” where people bring in their wounded or dying orchids. After a year or more of intensive care he brings them (or most of them) back to life. He then donates the flowers to hospitals, hospice or even individuals who are recovering from serious illness.

Our Town host Maryanne McNellis interviews Roger Short, the dynamo behind Short’s Family Farms. Roger fell in love with dairy farming at the age of three. He recounts his transition from a traditional dairy farmer to a “beyond organic” approach to raising grass-fed cattle. Cows wear pedometers these days and Roger’s not against all science.
