#64 Sheriff Dave Stanko
(First Airdate: June 7, 2016) Sheriff Stanko’s Report Card. Our Town Host Maryanne McNellis interviews Sheriff Dave Stanko, who officially took office in January 2015 after a highly controversial election. Stanko vowed that citizens would become more involved with the Sheriff’s department and that his people would be thoughtfully and thoroughly trained. So how’s he doing?
#63 Hillary Metzger
(first airdate: May 24, 2016) BREATHING EASY, EVEN WHEN IT’S HARD. Our Town host Maryanne McNellis interviews Hilary Metzger, who runs the Pulmonary Rehab program at Jefferson Health Care. Back in the day, Hilary and her husband fled civilization and were blissfully homesteading in Alaska. Then the diaper duty for two babies prompted a decision to return civilization – or the Port Townsend version of civilization. Hilary is now in charge of an innovative Pulmonary Rehab program which is helping hundreds of Jefferson County residents use their lung capacity fully and live longer.
#62 Fiona Schaffer
(first airdate: May 10, 2016) Our Town Host Maryanne McNellis interviews Fiona Schaffer, Port Townsend’s 2016 Rhodie Queen. Cheerleader Fiona and her court will be riding a brand new float in the parade on Saturday, May 21.
#61 Kris Nelson
(first airdate: April 26, 2016) Gastro Visions for Port Townsend. Our Town Host Maryanne McNellis interviews Kris Nelson, the sole owner of three of Port Townsend’s most popular restaurants – Sirens, Alchemy and the Old Whiskey Mill. Kris explains the different concepts behind each venue and how her ‘secret weapon’ (her Dad) helps turn her visions into reality.
#60 Dave Timmons
(first airdate: April 12, 2016) Our Town Host Maryanne McNellis interviews Dave Timmons, Port Townsend’s City Manager. Timmons walks a tightrope of expectations from gentrification to housing trusts that could somehow make affordable housing a reality instead of a vision. It’s not an easy job – it was so tense when he first took over that his dog would literally growl when anyone spoke the words “city manager.”
#59 Ron Myhre
(first airdate: March 29, 2016) THE HAUNTING SOUNDS OF SINGING BOWLS. Our Town Host Maryanne McNellis interviews Ron Myhre, owner of one of Port Townsend’s most eclectic shops – The Curator’s Eye. His tiny closet of a shop, tucked under the Bishop Hotel, houses many mysteries including Tibetan “singing bowls.”
#58 P. D. Sandhu
(first airdate: March 15, 2016) GASOLINE, GROCERIES & GROWLERS. Our Town Host Maryanne McNellis interviews the ambitious young entrepreneur P.D. Sandhu, president of Pacific Liquors. P.D. purchased both the Chimacum gas station (aka Templetons) and the Port Hadlock Liquor Store. He’s all about customer service and is combining the two franchises into a venue where you can gas up, buy chicken and even shop for liquor. It’s a very California concept where the liquor stores really are the convenience stores.
#57 Sam Johnson
(first airdate: March 1, 2016) WOULD YOU LIKE FRIES WITH THAT, DEARIE? Our Town host Maryanne McNellis interviews Sam (Sandra) Johnson, a long-time waitress at Don’s Pharmacy’s Soda Fountain. Sam spills the beans about the regulars lingering on “their” particular stools and dishes up dirt about the alternative “city council meetings” held at Don’s every Saturday morning.
#56 Jordan Eades
(airdate: February 16, 2016) DANCING ON THE ROOF TOPS OF JEFFERSON COUNTY. Our Town Host Maryanne McNellis interviews Jordan Eades, co-owner of Hope Roofing and the new President of the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce.
