KPTZ’s Taylor Clark was joined by Laura Parsons, Civil Engineer with the City of Port Townsend along with Danny Milholland from the Production Alliance. Laura is the Project Manager for the Discovery Road project and Danny has been planning a big ribbon cutting event to celebrate the project. The event starts at 2pm this Saturday, June 15 and the ribbon will be cut just after 2:30. Ride your bike up and join in!

We talked, of course, about the upcoming Race to Alaska which kicks off this week, and also about a lot of other interesting things you may not be aware that Northwest Maritime does to help connect people to the water.

They particularly looked at the process to find a replacement for City Council Member Aislinn Palmer, who is stepping down.

KPTZ’s Taylor Clark and co-host John Mauro (Port Townsend City Manager) talked with Bill Wise, Steering Committee Chair of the Housing Solutions Network about Workforce Housing: what it is, why it is important, what we can do to improve housing availability. Bill specifically asked all of us to take a survey to help understand where we are as a community on this topic. The survey is available here.

Taylor Clark and co-host John Mauro where joined by KPTZ Board President Jon Pinnow and KPTZ Treasurer Christine Walsh Rogers for some breaking news as they announced that Taylor no longer an interim GM. He is now KPTZ’s General Manager. Kind things where said by all.

Taylor Clark and co-host John Mauro were joined by Jefferson PUD Commissioner Ken Collins, who gave us some history about the PUD, and some exciting information about grants the PUD has received. We talked about different services the PUD supplies. not just power, but also water and broadband/internet service. We also had a moment to talk about KPTZ’s move to Fort Worden on May 1. KPTZ is a PUD customer for both Internet and our dedicated fiber connection to our transmitter. And of course power.
