The Parlor

Hawkins and Jen Hauser from The Parlor here in Port Townsend (http://shopkalma.com) a space focusing on weaving community at the intersections of grief and joy. Listen in to hear more about the resources they offer, including the Memory Tree and the Community Grief Altar, and how the process of grief can help us with some of the very difficult things that happen in our lives.

Running for City Council

(Airdate: April 21, 2025) On today’s Attention Please! host Charlie Bermant talks to Port Townsend City Council member Libby Wennstrom, Deputy Mayor Amy Howard, and former Mayor and City Council member Michelle Sandoval. As filing week is approaching, we discussed why people should run for city council and what to expect if/when you are elected. They tell us the job isn’t easy, but has tremendous rewards.

Attention Please!

(Airdate: April 7, 2025) Wildfire risk is growing. Robert Wittenberg, Community Risk Manager with East Jefferson Fire Rescue (EJFR), walks and talks with KPTZ’s Jon Pinnow, discussing how homeowners can prepare for the growing threat and giving practical advice on how to make homes and landscapes safer. This conversation is part of a broader push to help communities across Washington get Wildfire Ready – and, thanks to EJFR, free home assessments are available right here in East Jefferson County.

Don White Tribute

(Airdate: March 24, 2025) This tribute to Don for his work on Radio, Theater and Spoken Word features excerpts of stories read by Don on Phil Andrus’ KPTZ programs Cats in Our Laps (and previously Tossed Salad).  It features Phil’s comments, and thoughts from Deborah Kate Hammond, a long-time friend of and colleague Don.  It also features thoughts and memories from Genevieve Barlow, Artistic Director of Saltfire Theater Company. Don White’s last stage performance was with Genevieve and her company at Fort Worden in August of 2024.
