County Connections

(Airdate: August 16, 2024) This week on County Connections co-hosts Jim Burke and County Commissioner Heidi Eisenhour speak with Matt Tyler, a forester with County Public Works & Parks, and Malloree Weinheimer, a forester and principal of Chickadee Forestry, who has worked with Matt and others in the county to make county forests and parks healthier and more sustainable. Also, there is a five-minute interview with Brinnon Fire Chief Tim Manly about the Road 2620 wildfire that is burning on Mount Jupiter as of the airing of this program.

Brian Ledford – A Candlelight Concert

KPTZ is excited to welcome local singer-songwriter Brian Ledford to the Trinity United Methodist Church on Thursday, August 22 at 7pm, the most recent addition to our Candlelight Concert series. Brian Ledford is a performer who pulls inspiration from his roots to create great songs, rich in storytelling and character, but woven with unique melodies and introspection. engagement practices that build trust and help our communities bridge differences. #684 Pigeon Guillemot Survey, part 1

(Reprise airdate: August 14, 2024) Brenda Johnson is the leader of the East Jefferson Pigeon Guillemot Breeding Survey which is part of the Salish Sea Guillemot Network. The network is a community science project that monitors breeding colonies across our region to understand their role in healthy coastal ecosystems. Join Jackie Canterbury as she discusses the project with Dr. Brenda Johnson and volunteer Karin Ertl, who both make this project happen in the field. Both guests provide a portrait of the Pigeon Guillemot, a fascinating seabird that shares both our land and water ecosystems.
