The Stirring Vocals of Maya de Vitry Come to Rainshadow Recording Studios

Maya de Vitry plays the guitar

KPTZ is excited to join Rainshadow Recording in welcoming Maya de Vitry to the Rainshadow Recording Studios at Fort Worden in Port Townsend on Tuesday, March 18 at 7:30pm. Maya is a Nashville-based songwriter, recording artist, producer, and instrumentalist whose music blurs the lines of country, folk, indie rock, and Americana. After a formative chapter of touring and recording as a member of roots-Americana trio The Stray Birds, Maya launched a solo career with her 2019 album Adaptations, earning praise from Rolling Stone Country, NPR Music, and No Depression. With a magnetic voice and a hard-won sense of purpose, she is touring tirelessly across North America and Europe, promoting her fourth full-length release in just six years, The Only Moment. Her sense of liberation is apparent in her live shows, which have become a space for spontaneity, peace, and freedom, often woven together with personal stories that connect the songs.

Brewocracy Now ~ 3/06/25

KPTZ’s Taylor Clark and cohost Port Townsend City Manager John Mauro talked about the importance of building community and looking forward toward the future. In the second half of the broadcast we explored some details about the city’s budget in response to some of the things Taylor has been reading on social media about the budget not being balanced. Listen in to hear John’s explanation, it’s quite interesting.

( We recognize there were sound quality issues due to the zoom feed, and we will be working to correct those next time we do a broadcast like this.)

As naturalists, the choices include some great natural history picks. But their eclectic tastes range across poetry, philosophy, history, personal reflections of authors, and art. Tune in to hear their conversation and to share in the fun they all had doing this program.

Silk

(Airdate: March 4, 2025) We’re in the town of Zhangye, and we’re now looking for something to do. We think it’s time for something different, so we decided to visit one of the small ethnic minorities along the Silk Road. It just so happened that 60 kilometers west of Zhangye is the county seat of Sunan, home of the horseback- riding, mutton-eating, milk-tea-drinking Yugu, living along the flank of the Chilean moutains.
