KPTZ at the PT Record Show
The Port Townsend Record Show, all day Saturday, March 2nd, is sure to be a music-lovers’ delight ~ for all genres and styles of recorded music. This 4th annual Record Show event is co-presented by KPTZ and is open to the public at American Legion Hall on Monroe and Water Streets, from 10am to 5pm this Saturday.
KPTZ will have a table near the entry, so stop by to say hello. We’ll have items for sale, all proceeds to benefit the “Build a New Home for KPTZ” campaign. In addition to a limited supply of station T-shirts and hoodies, a number of our DJs are donating records and CDs. Vinyl Village and Class Reunion host Jerry Osborne also is contributing four books of interest to music collectors. Among the goodies being offered for sale at KPTZ’s table you will find:
Jerry Osborne’s “Rockin’ Records” covers practically everything necessary to price most of your records, especially singles (33, 45, & 78 rpms), albums (10-inch & 12-inch), and picture sleeves. Also includes a beautiful photo tribute to the Motown family labels. “Rockin’ Records 2015” is 1,276 pages, with 44 in full color on coated (glossy) stock. This massive book is smyth-sewn and case-bound (hard cover), making it far more durable than paperback binding. This edition contains sections for 68,841 artists. It spans over 100 years of pop, rock, country, jazz, blues, and a little of everything else – from 1900 to present; from the very popular to the very, very obscure.
“Elvis – Word for Word” is the first book to accurately present and document Elvis’ own thoughts and feelings…word for word, exactly as he spoke or wrote. Since he never authored a book, it could easily be said that this is HIS book. This first edition is case-bound, 290 pages, and provides a chronological transcription of every Presley interview, monologue, and recorded phone conversation. Read his exact words, from as early as 1954 and continuing into the summer of 1977. For the first time in one handy source, you’ll discover his significant, verifiable comments, statements or responses. Each subject is indexed for fast reference. Whether you want to read just what Elvis had to say about sex or sideburns, menopause or Memphis, we’ll tell you exactly where to look.
“Presleyana VI” documents Elvis’ music and memorabilia in great detail, including all speeds and formats of records, CDs, Tapes, and Non-Recorded Memorabilia. Elvis collectors often refer to this book as the “Elvis Bible.”
“Introducing…The Beatles Record Price Guide” is unlike any Beatles reference book we’ve ever seen – and we have seen hundreds. With 232 coated-stock pages and color throughout, this guide covers all U.S. releases by The Beatles as a group (not as solo artists) from 1962 through 1996, including originals as well as reissues. In-depth descriptions and accurate values for true near-mint condition records and covers.

He ultimately decided to put his expertise to good use. As Service Officer he has helped hundreds of veterans from all branches and all wars get the benefits and pensions due to them.
