County Public Health Report ~ 6/08

Dr. Tom Locke addressed the concerns related to the recent protest rallies, as well as the County’s observance of Phase 2 of the governor’s Safe Start Recovery Plan. Key topics included the ordinance in effect that requires face coverings when in public, and the increase in testing capacity both locally and at the statewide level.

This week on the Compass we talk with one of the designers about a survey that seeks your ideas for building a better, more resilient society coming out of the COVID-19 lockdown, and then we drop in on an extraordinary anti-racism rally held in Port Townsend Friday afternoon in solidarity with Black Lives Matter at which, of the several hundred marchers, there were virtually no African Americans to be seen—and very few policemen.

(First airdate: June 3, 2020) Cris talks with Samantha Ladwig, owner of Writers’ Workshoppe and Imprint Books, about taking ownership of a much-loved institution here in Port Townsend. Samantha is offering a new audio book service and has many ideas for new workshops and guest authors to increase the community of writers and readers on the peninsula.
