KPTZ Welcomes Local Organist Terry Reitz to the Candlelight Concert Series

KPTZ is excited to welcome local organist Terry Reitz to the Trinity United Methodist Church on Thursday, August 28 at 7pm as part of our ongoing Candlelight Concert series. This performance features a unique “plant-based” program inspired by the music of composer Victoria Bond. Originally written for harpsichord, these pieces have been reimagined by Terry to make use of the full range of keyboards available at Trinity. The deep resonance of the church’s bass pipes brings life to works like Strangler Fig and Creeping Moss, while the ethereal tones of the electronic keyboard perfectly capture the airy spirit of the Ghost Orchid. The evening will close with Roses and Bach’s Fantasia in C. Terry’s lifelong journey with the organ began at age nine, when she took lessons in a small northern Minnesota town and began playing for local churches and bands. She later studied at the University before turning to the related visual art of textile design and production. Her studies took her to the Allgemeine Gewerbeschule in Basel, Switzerland, and Bradford College in the UK, followed by 11 years living and working in Switzerland, Belgium, and Germany. Throughout her time abroad, she sought out pipe organs of every size and quality—continuing her passion for their sound and character. Today, Terry splits her time between music at Trinity Methodist and her textile clients in her studio in the woods of Quilcene, WA. Her artistry bridges the worlds of sound and sight, exploring how texture, structure, and beauty can be expressed in both music and fabric. Presented by KPTZ, the concert will also be simulcast on 91.9 FM
