Bring Your Records – Shelby Silver

(Airdate: June 30, 2021) Shelby Silver, a teaching environmental artist at Northwind Art, will be teaching Kaleidoscope from the Sea:  Art with Plastic Debris from our Waters.  Classes July 21 and 22 at the Northwind Art classroom building at Fort Worden. July 21 for young people, July 22 for all ages.

Jazz at the Castle, Flowers at Gariss Gardens

(Airdate: July 5, 2021) The first Attention Please! of July began with a brief overview of the series “Friday Night Jazz at the Castle”, illustrated with a song by organizer Jean Lenke. For the second part of the show, Peter Gariss and Candice Gohn describe Port Townsend’s largest flower garden, Gariss Gardens, and the accompanying Farmstand which is now open to the public. Along the way, Peter Gariss tells the history of Gariss Gardens, an historic working farm in the middle of Port Townsend.

Ellen Bonjorno Meet & Greet

Ellen Bonjorno is coming to town, direct from New York City! Ellen will be hosting her show”Sing It, Sister!” live on KPTZ, Saturday, July 3 from 11am to noon. Right after the show, come join Ellen for a “meet and greet” at the station parking lot. Ellen and KPTZ invite you to drop by and say hi! 

From 11am to noon each Saturday, KPTZ airs Sing It, Sister! Ellen Bonjorno has been a dance & party DJ for over 30 years, and has always enjoyed introducing her audience to music they may never have heard, putting those “new” songs together with classics we all know and love. Inspired years ago by two male friends who only listened to music by women in their home every Sunday, she decided to do a program featuring all women’s voices. You’ll hear songs from every genre, from jazz to gospel, bluegrass, disco, folk, rock and reggae and from every era, from the 1920s to today. 

Miss Lillian, More Than a President’s Mother

A film adaptation of the one-woman show, Lillian Carter—More Than a President’s Mother, is called Miss Lillian, More Than A President’s Mother.” The docudrama is scheduled to be released September 28.  The film tells the inspiring story of LILLIAN CARTER, matriarch of Georgia’s storied Carter family and mother to Jimmy Carter, the oldest living United States President. Included in the film are interviews with former President Jimmy Carter, former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, newsman Sam Donaldson, and former Dodger Manager Tommy Lasorda, as well as friends and family in Plains, Georgia.  In the film, Carol Swarbrick, multi-talented veteran of film, television, Broadway, regional stage, portrays Miss Lillian Carter. KPTZ’s Chris Bricker chats with Carol about the film, which will screen at the Seattle Film Festival website on Friday, July 2 and Saturday, July 3. To view the film online both days, click here.
