Silk

(Airdate: October 7, 2025) We’ve finally left Gansu Province and Dunghuang behind and heading for Hami, the next oasis on the northern branch of the Silk Road. The size of the Oases along the Silk Road always surprised us. It took our bus almost 30 minutes to get past the fields and pastures, and then we were back in the desert again—this time along rolling black hills and sage brush flats.

It aims to spotlight the macabre, camp, and passion of post-punk, nu-metal, raw techno, musique concrète, hypnotic EBM, horror-core, industrial dance, experimental R&B, and other musical genres that dwell in the dark. County Public Health Report ~ 10/06/25

For the October Public Health Report the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) led off with a proclamation for Mental Health Week. Dr. Allison Berry talked about vaccines and the scarcity of COVID vaccines for children, RSV is pretty rare at the moment. The latest COVID and Flu vaccines are available for adults and recommended, especially for those over 65. Willie Bence mentioned that the Great Shakeout is on October 16 (10/16 at 10:16 am) and he reminded us to DROP, COVER, and HOLD ON! at that time; pull over and stay in your car at that moment as well. We can build “muscle memory” so if an earthquake occurs we will know what to do and not panic. Also, the 4th Annual Fire & Rescue Fest is at the EJFR fire house on Lawrence Street is Saturday, October 15 from 10am to 2pm.

County Connections

(Airdate: October 3, 2025) Jim Burke and Commissioner Heather Dudley-Nollette welcome Shawn Frederick, Director of Central services to the program, and discuss how the department supports the county administration behind the scenes with facilities management, and support the public to through the IT department. There is a community meeting in the west end at the Hoh Tribal Center on October 22nd, from 6-8pm, and anyone may view the meeting on the county website at https://www.co.jefferson.wa.us/

Brewocracy Now ~ 10/02/25

KPTZ’s Taylor Clark and Port Townsend City Manager John Mauro welcomed Jefferson Historical Society Executive Director Tara McCauley to talk about changes at the museum. We talked about how history can shed light on current events and help us better understand our world. Tune in to hear about Tara’s favorite item from the collection. Also, each first Saturday is a free day at the museum, located in our historic City Hall. Plus, on Saturday, October 11, the museum is offering a once-a-year opportunity to go behind the scenes for a tour of their research collection which houses over half a million items.
