A new show debuts of KPTZ this Friday March 18 from 1-3pm: WordSongs with host Ward Serrill, aka DJ WAS. You may have caught a few of Ward’s guest shows in January and February on KPTZ! WordSongs is dedicated to the poetics of music and the words that flow with the soul. DJ WAS will travel down a musical river of lyrical discovery, bringing the best from singer-songwriters new and old, famous and obscure. Good lyrics, no matter the style, Fridays on KPTZ.
Today City Manager John Mauro and KPTZ’s Tim Quackenbush were joined by Jim Novelli, Executive Director of Discovery Behavioral Healthcare. Mr. Novelli explained the how the organization interacts with local governments with the goal of providing comprehensive mental health services.

In honor of Women’s History Month, KPTZ presents a tribute to Oneida musician Joanne Shenandoah, who passed away in 2021. Shenandoah recorded various genres of music, including orchestral, country, spoken word, and more. She was a Native American Music Award and Grammy winner. This program comes to KPTZ from Gäenö and Native Voice One. Alternative Radio returns the following Tuesday at its usual time.
