Dear Friends and Listeners,

2022 sure has been an incredible and challenging year for KPTZ, and for us all! Certainly, it has been a year of great strides and huge growth. KPTZ, your community radio station that could, has worked tirelessly over the last 12 months to grow into our new facilities, and to address the technical and personnel challenges that accompany this transition. Due to our incredible staff and volunteers who have been endeavoring to bring this dream to fruition, we are now mere weeks from broadcasting full-time from our new home at Fort Worden.

from you, our listeners and community.

All along, KPTZ has continued to provide timely, intentional, and original live programming, and has had the pleasure of adding new and expanded shows. Our Emergency Response Team continues to relay Public Health updates on the pandemic. Brewocracy Now consistently offers important updates and dialog on local issues. And innovative new programming such as Song Club Radio Hour advances our efforts to support local and burgeoning artists, both locally and in the greater Puget Sound region. 2022 also saw the staff hire of our first local news reporter at KPTZ ~ a goal we’ve had for years, to grow our identity as a reliable community information source and become more crucial in this capacity.

As we wrap up the year and reflect on what’s been accomplished, it’s important to acknowledge all of our donors, listeners, volunteers, staff and contributors who have brought us to where we are today. Looking ahead to 2023, KPTZ is committed to providing the authentic, quality experience that gets woven into every minute of the station’s 24/7 broadcast year. Like all non-profits, we rely heavily on the contributions of our community to help sustain our efforts. Just as inflation has had an impact on people throughout Jefferson County and beyond, it has impacted KPTZ’s ongoing expenses, including overhead, technology costs, staffing, and so much more.

KPTZ is humbled to join United Good Neighbors in the incredible and essential work they do for our community. For over 65 years, United Good Neighbors has championed front-line nonprofits that provide for the basic human needs of local individuals and families.
