(Airdate: February 12, 2023) In this episode of Coastal Cafe, host Ashli Blow takes us into our underwater forests to explore Washington’s emerging seaweed farms. We hear from several voices including Washington Sea Grant Carbon Specialist Meg Chadsey, Pacific Sea Farms Co-Founder Mike Spranger, S’Klallam Vice Tribal Chair Loni Grinnell-Greninger, Lee-Ann Ennis of the Vital Kelp Restoration Project, and Vashon Island Kelp Forest Owner Mike Kollins. Together, we learn about the economics and environmental benefits of kelp and seaweed as well as the limitations.

KPTZ is excited to welcome Gangspil to the Quimper Grange. Gangspil consists of Sonnich Lydom and Kristian Bugge, two of Denmark’s leading folk musicians. Gangspil will take you on a journey through the entertaining and varied traditions of Danish folk music. Expect everything from wild polkas and jigs to lyrical waltzes. Join us on Thursday, February 16 at the Quimper Grange at 7pm.



KPTZ is showing the Love on Valentine’s Day, with a specially curated day and evening of programming. It’s KPTZ’s Love Affaire with our community of listeners, produced by DJ host Chris Bricker and featuring live performances, love stories, theatre fare, the latest on KPTZ’s new shows ~ and of course, a Candle Light Dinner followed by Community Valentines, Blues tunes, and a night of Jazz ballads..
