KPTZ is excited to CoPresent String Stories – A World Music Odyssey, together with the Castle in PT, on Saturday, February 4 at 7pm. Andre Feriante, one of the Pacific Northwest’s premiere guitarists and composers, brings his musical world tour to the Castle. String Stories features selections from his collection of exotic and traditional instruments from around the globe, while playing music authentic to their origins.

Taylor Clark‘s Brewocracy Now co-host was Port Townsend Library Director Melody Sky Weaver and our guest was Port Townsend Police Chief Thomas Olson. We discussed community policing efforts including a proposed citizen’s advisory group, upcoming bicycle police, and some outreach programs with our police at the library.

Enjoy traditional Irish music at its best – see and hear Seán Gavin & Johnny B Connolly at the Quimper Grange on Thursday, February 2 at 7pm. From Shore to Shore is the new project from the mind of master uilleann piper and flute player Seán Gavin. The aim of the project is to connect with others involved in preserving traditional music, and to bring their stories and music to a wider audience. Seán is touring the west coast with Dublin-born accordionist and longtime Portland OR resident, Johnny B Connolly. Friends for many years, Seán and Johnny have a special chemistry.

Listen as Nan Evans explores dune ecosystems and the role of dune grasses with Dr. Rebecca Mostow. What’s more, learn about Dr. Mostow’s work characterizing a strange new hybrid species of dune grass that raises unanswered questions about ecological beach and dune systems.
