Booklovers’ Cafe – Erica Bauermeister, No Two Persons

(Airdate: June 20, 2023) Booklover’s Cafe welcomes back New York Times bestselling author, Erica Bauermeister.  Her latest novel, No Two Persons, is definitely a Cris Pick! This story involves a single book read over the course of ten years by nine different people. How these people react and are influenced by the book is the concept. Unique and intriguing people, a variety of original settings and the way that these characters are tangentially connected make this book one of Erica’s best. “Wandering is a gift given only to the lost” Erica is also the author of “The Scent Keeper and House Lessons”.

KPTZ is pleased to work with 4PT Production in welcoming the Westerlies and the Gravitas Quartet to Quimper Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Port Townsend on Monday, June 19 at 7:30pm. More information found here. Below is an interview from Larry’ Stein’s 10aM program on June 7.

Kayak Safety

(Airdate: June 19, 2023) This reprise show, produced by KPTZ DJ host and kayaker Chris Bricker on the subject of kayak safety, was motivated by the tragic deaths of two kayakers just off the Dungeness Spit in April of 2015, along with more recent incidents involving ill-fated kayakers. These are beautiful and spectacular waters, but it’s important to remember the essentials when venturing out in this region to enjoy this great sport. We speak with veteran kayaker and adventurer Chris Duff, Dr. Sam Baker on cold water immersion, leaders of the Olympic Peninsula Paddling Club, and rescue swimmers from the U.S. Coast Guard Station in Port Angeles.  Experienced Kayaker, KPTZ’s Mermaid Keri introduces the show.

Community Tides ~ 6/16/23

Host Chris Bricker, Henry Nolan, Dakota Sandoval-Gay, and Co-host Siobhan Canty

Our special guests today are two out of three childhood friends who grew up here in Port Townsend and have co-founded a tiny game company called 3 Much Fun. Their first project is in true Port Townsend fashion. They have allowed their creative imaginations and talents to flourish unabashedly. Dakota, Henry, and Daniel also represent Port Townsend’s youth who, instead of fleeing their home town for other parts, have returned here with gusto, to their roots, to become contributors to the craftsman and maker culture that makes Port Townsend  what it is. Co-hosts Chris Bricker and Siobhan Canty, President & CEO of Jefferson Community Foundation, speak with Dakota Sandoval-Gay and Henry Nolan. With collaborator Daniel McCurdy and illustrator Conor Nolan, they have created a world-building activity book that comes to life with the roll of a dye. It’s called Roll For Your Life.
