Our Working Waterfront ~ 7/14/23

What kind of vision and resourcefulness does it take to fabricate frames for a small submarine, or come up with a physical solution for a broken fitting in the middle of nowhere? Oh! And by the way, maybe repairing a tea pot now and then? Hosts Chris Bricker and Port Commissioner Pam Petranek find out the answers from Peter Chaffee, of Peter’s Marine, right here at the entrance to Boat Haven. Co-Host, Port of Port Commissioner Eron Berg also gives us our monthly recap of happenings around the Port.
County Connections

(Airdate: July 14, 2023) Greg Brotherton zoomed in from Andrea’s Beauty and Barber in Quilcene (where he was getting his hair cut) to talk with KPTZ guest host Taylor Clark about sewer systems (this seems to be a favorite topic for Taylor) as well as upcoming community meetings: July 19 at the Tri-Area Community Center, August 18 in Gardiner, September 8 in Brinnon, Sep14 in Quilcene, and October 6 at the Hoh Tribal Center, all at 6pm. They also talked about the PUD fiber project and made a plea for civil community dialogue. Closing Music was “Please Don’t Let me be Misunderstood”.

Brewocracy Now ~ 7/13/23

Taylor Clark and John Mauro talked about the meeting last Monday with city department heads and council which is a kickoff for the 2024 budgeting process. John fielded questions about the leaky pipe at North Beach (Spoiler: It’s not a sewer outfall, it drains the lagoon) and the deer problem (Note: Please don’t feed the deer!) John also gave us a heads up about some thinking that is going on around a possible Transportation Budget District (TBD) which is a method of funding needed street repairs. The whole conversation can be heard right here!
Stephanie Schneiderman Trio Performing Live!

Please join KPTZ and Rainshadow Recording in welcoming the Stephanie Schneiderman Trio to the Palindrome in Port Townsend on Saturday, July 15 at 7:30pm. Stephanie Schneiderman is well known throughout the Pacific Northwest for her beautifully dark and deeply introspective sound that is both lush and intimate. She will be joined by Jenny Conlee of the Decemberists and Keith Brush of the Blue Cranes on stand up bass for a magnetic live performance.
