Master Drummer Bolokada Condé Visits Port Townsend & KPTZ

(Airdate: October 31, 2023) Master djembe drum teacher and performer Bolokada Condé is visiting Port Townsend this week. He will be leading workshops in local schools as well as providing drumming classes. On Tuesday’s Rhythm Connection, Bolokada Condé joined Robert Ambrose to perform and to enlighten us about his music and history. That interview/performance can be heard below.

Community Tides Special

The Jefferson County Immigrant Rights Advocates (JCIRA) are invested in the lives of those who are immigrating to our community. Facing multiple challenges, JCIRA comes alongside assisting their needs with the help of an outreach coordinator who helps them to navigate these challenges. Join us as Missy Nielsen visits with Natalia Duran, JCIRA Outreach Coordinator. Not only does Natalia help to build bridges across the communities they are settling into, but she also serves as an advocate providing vital assistance to immigrant families. Learn about how her passion was informed by volunteerism.

Adventuress Cooking

(Airdate: October 30, 2023) KPTZ’s Taylor Clark and Jim Burke head to boat haven to meet with Adventuress cook George Clark to get a crew’s eye view of what goes on in the galley to keep everyone aboard well fed. Adventuress is a 133′ gaff-rigged schooner built in 1913 that is operated by the non-profit organization Sound Experience, providing environmental education in the Salish Sea.

Their guests are John Bellow of Spring Rain Farm, Nichole Witham of Chimacum Farm Stand, and Amanda Millholland of Jefferson County Farmer’s Markets.
