The Front Porch / Eileen Deutsch

Host Eileen Deutsch brings her eclectic mix of great music to KPTZ. Her show, The Front Porch, features folk music in all of its various aspects including premier selections from the worlds of Americana, bluegrass, contemporary, and vintage singer/songwriters, as well as many hybrid variations with elements of folk, both domestic and abroad. When Eileen isn’t curating her selections for The Front Porch, you can find her doing plein air art work, caring for her canines, or working on endless projects at her Port Townsend home. Living Incognegro

(Airdate: January 29, 2024) Host Jim Burke spoke with Director Denise Winter, Actor/Playwright Gin Hammond, and Scenic Designer Michelle Cesmat. All three are involved in the Upcoming Key City Public Theatre’s production: Living Incognegro, that runs from the February 1 preview through February 11. From KCPT’s website: “When your cultural identity is one thing, but your physical identity is another, how do you navigate self-expression? Both a humorous love-letter, and an academic discourse, dedicated to those who find themselves in the middle of a cultural battle they never asked for.”

County Connections

Jim Burke and co-host Commissioner Greg Brotherton welcome Matt Sircely, Vice-Chair of The Jefferson County Planning Commission and Joel Peterson Associate Planner- Lead for the County Department of Community Development. They all discuss the Planning Commission’s mandate to update the comprehensive plan for Jefferson County, which will be updated in June of 2025, and seeks community input from everyone in the meantime to make sure issues like housing and growth are updated to reflect the ongoing needs in the County. The Planning Commission is composed of 9 citizen volunteers appointed by the Board of County Commissioners to support the Department of Community Development and to make advisory recommendations on land use planning matters to the Board of County Commissioners as authorized in the Planning Enabling Act (RCW 36.70.040).
