Al features new work launching each week along with historic versions & background on what you are hearing. With marine weather and occasional guest artists.

Bence/Black/Wittenberg

(Airdate; June 17, 2024) This week, host Jim Burke has a conversation with Willie Bence, Director of Emergency Management for Jefferson County, Chief Bret Black from EJFR (East Jefferson Fire Rescue;) and Robert Wittenberg, Community Risk Manager. They discuss the National Wildland Fire Potential Outlook; a report from The National Interagency Fire Center, which draws data from NOAA and other agencies. Also included: what listeners can do to prevent wildfires and prepare for all potential disasters, and whether folks need to mobilize or “shelter in place.”

  • Wednesday, 11:30 to 12:00Living Planet (https://exchange.prx.org/series/33575-living-planet-from-dw) brings you stories, facts and debates on the key environmental issues of our time. Living Planet comes to us from Deutsche Welle and PRX.
  • Thursday, 11:30 to 12:00Everybody Can, hosted by KPTZ’s own Missy Nielsen. Missy spotlights the many volunteer organizations serving Jefferson County.
  • Friday, 11:30 to 12:00With Good Reason (https://www.withgoodreasonradio.org/), where each week, host Sarah McConnell shares exciting discoveries, rigorous debates and new knowledge on this award-winning show. With Good Reason comes to us from Virginia Humanities and PRX.

KPTZ is excited to join LTD Presents in welcoming Rick Estrin & the Nightcats to Port Townsend! For one night only, Rick Estrin & the Nightcats will be performing at the Palindrome on Friday, June 21 at 7:30pm. Brewocracy Now ~ 6/13/24

KPTZ’s Taylor Clark was joined by Laura Parsons, Civil Engineer with the City of Port Townsend along with Danny Milholland from the Production Alliance. Laura is the Project Manager for the Discovery Road project and Danny has been planning a big ribbon cutting event to celebrate the project. The event starts at 2pm this Saturday, June 15 and the ribbon will be cut just after 2:30. Ride your bike up and join in!
