(Airdate: December 17, 2025) Join Jackie Canterbury as she talks with Paul Koberstein, an award-winning environmental journalist and the co-author of the book Canopy of Titans: The Life and Times of the Great North American Temperate Rainforest. Paul has explored many environmental issues through his career as a writer. Join us as we talk with Paul about the global importance of our own temperate rainforest ecosystem in the Pacific Northwest with emphasis on its’ role in storing carbon and the challenges we face.
(Airdate: December 16, 2025) We’re in Xinjiang province, in the town of Hami, waiting for the evening train to take us to Turfan, and already we’re regretting our decision to pass up a chance to visit Balikun. Balikun is on the other side of the Tianshan mountains that rise like a gigantic white wall 30 kilometers north of town.

(Airdate: December 12, 2025) KPTZ’s Taylor Clark and co-host Jefferson County Commissioner Heidi Eisenhour were joined by Jamie Maciejewski, the Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of East Jefferson County, as well as Sam Harper, the county’s Director of Waste Management and the manager of the new Port Hadlock Sewer system. We talked about the Mason Street Project, Habitat for Humanity’s new Port Hadlock neighborhood, where 138 new homes will be built, providing affordable housing. Availability of sewer connections within the Hadlock Urban Growth Area was a crucial element of the project.
