Executive Director – Genevieve Barlow is a Seattle transplant and has had the privilege to call Port Townsend home since 2018. She has worked for KPTZ since the fall of 2022 starting out as the promotions and publicity coordinator. In the last few years she has led many of the station’s fundraising efforts and fostered deeper connections between KPTZ and the community it serves. She is the Artistic Director for Saltfire Theatre, Port Townsend’s community theater company; having directed or performed in all 11 of their productions, she is also the Artist Network Coordinator for Centrum. Genevieve considers all the work she does through KPTZ, Saltfire and Centrum to be in service to the artists in her region, and all those who benefit from a thriving creative community.

Operations Director – Taylor Clark has a great love for radio. His dad ran the first FM stereo station west of the Mississippi, KLSN Seattle. He managed his college station, KWCW Walla Walla and he was an intern at KZAM in Bellevue. Then reality set in and he was lured into a more successful career in technology, which ended up with Blackberry, back when dinosaurs stomped the earth. Taylor went back to radio again with KPTZ in 2014 as a volunteer. Taylor loves the music part of broadcasting and hosts Blues Journey, but more recently has discovered something called “altruism”, and is working at giving back to our community through public affairs programming such as Attention Please! and Brewocracy Now.

Program Director, Log-Building Lead – Karen Anderson has been a music lover and dedicated radio listener for as long as she can remember. Working at Tower Records as a college student in the 1980s, Karen got a great education in many varieties of music, which she loves sharing with listeners on her own show, The Road, as well on other hosts’ shows when she has the opportunity to sub. After a long career in municipal land use planning, Karen made a major shift in gears and moved to Port Townsend 2018. In September 2019, Karen was listening to KPTZ and heard a call for volunteer log builders. Karen showed up for what she thought would be an orientation, and was immediately enlisted to help out as a log builder. She’s been there ever since, working in almost every aspect of the station’s operations.

Underwriting and Business Development – Marshall Gooch, aka DJ Mars, was born, raised, lives and probably will always live on the West Coast, Marshall has been a music fan since before he started his first band at age 14. He attended the University of Washington and volunteered and DJed for KCMU (90.3 FM), which one day transmogrified into KEXP, wrote for local and national music magazines, and eventually got into marketing pro audio and guitar/amplifier products. Still practicing writing, graphic design and the bass guitar, Marshall’s biggest joy in life these days is putting together a couple of weekly radio shows for KPTZ: Interstellar Underwear (rock/power pop/garage, Mondays 3-5pm) and Inna Fine Style (reggae/dub/ska, Saturdays 8-9:30am). He’s proud to represent KPTZ as Underwriting & Business Coordinator.

Volunteer and Outreach Manager – Rachel Smith is a lifelong resident of the Puget Sound area, and has lived in Port Townsend since 2014. She tended many bars, and spent a few years as the Events Coordinator for the Castle in PT. She started volunteering for KPTZ in 2023, hoping for a radio show! While she succeeded in her goal of hosting a late night, goofy variety show for the station, she was also hired to be KPTZ’s first ever paid Volunteer Coordinator! She is very excited to step into the expanded role of Volunteer and Outreach Manager, and can’t wait to enlarge KPTZ’s presence in the community and bring more music to the station. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor adventuring, acting in community theater productions, and doing any kind of art project that exists.
