It’s Primary Season! These days especially, we wonder about the challenges our educators face in encouraging our youth to be active in our democracy and its electoral process. KPTZ’s Chris Bricker and co-host Siobhan Canty, President & CEO of Jefferson Community Foundation, join Dr. Linda Rosenbury, Superintendent of Port Townsend School District, for an important discussion surrounding classroom challenges, solutions, and social responsibilities in navigating a politically charged and norm-busting environment.

(Airdate: August 6, 2024) Maryanne interviews Mary Irwin, Senior Mediator & Interim Executive Director of the Peninsula Dispute Resolution Center (CDRC). Getting a divorce? Have a nasty landlord/tenant problem? Dozens of such reasons might send you to the non-profit CDRC. It can be quite affordable and they don’t turn anyone away for lack of funds. Even after years of mediating case after case, Mary still finds the work immensely rewarding. Every childcare plan is unique and every dispute can raise new twists on fairly old situations. Most people think their divorce or their wrongful termination tops most other conflicts. Perhaps — but the basic theme is the same. Still, conflicts evolve. For example, mediation wasn’t really necessary for vaccination decisions until the pandemic. Mediation continues to be quite common.

Dacha Theater Company

Les Arrivants Perform Live in Port Townsend

KPTZ is excited to join Rainshadow Recording in welcoming Les Arrivants to the Palindrome in Port Townsend on Sunday August 11 at 7:30pm. Les Arrivants are an international trio based in Montreal, Canada with backgrounds in Arabic Classical, Argentine Tango, and Persian Classical music. Les Arrivants creates an introspective sonic experience while channeling complex emotions associated with migration and travel. Brought to you by KPTZ and Rainshadow Recording, this will be a truly amazing show.
