This month on the BOCC Public Health Report, Willie Bence started us off with info about fire danger and drought this summer. There is also the All-County Preparedness Day at Finnriver on June 27. You can sign up for NIXLE alerts by sending jeffcodem to 888777. Dr, Berry answered good listener questions and said there is increased COVID-19 presence in out wastewater, possibly due to more people visiting, but overall COVID-19 is very low now. Also some info about EBOLA and Measles.

Join KPTZ in welcoming Russian Blue, the Marrying Type, and monica to the Quilcene Lantern on Saturday, June 6 at 7:30pm. Russian Blue is a great post-punk, dance-rock group that hails from both Seattle and Bremerton. The Marrying Type is an art music project, and monica is a collection of sounds by Caitlin Faircloth and friends, based out of Quilcene. Brought to you by KPTZ and the Quilcene Lantern, we encourage you to support local music and go see local shows!

KPTZ is literally thrilled to join the Production Alliance for Port Townsend Pride, a joyful, multigenerational celebration of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community at Pope Marine Park on Saturday, June 6 from noon to 5pm. PT Pride began as a grassroots effort inspired by conversations during the 2018 Women’s March and has since evolved into a major annual celebration centered on advocacy, art, and joyful community connection. Pride is about visibility, belonging, creativity, and connection. This year’s event will feature live music, drag performances, speakers, local artists, a Pride Boat Parade, and much much more!!

(Airdate: May 29, 2026) For KPTZ’s small town BIG SOUND fundraiser, co-hosts Commissioner Greg Brotherton and Jim Burke have a spirited discussion about fireworks and the issues they pose, fire danger in the county this summer generally, the new bridge in the south county which allows for greater passage of chum salmon. And Greg responds to a listener question about the future of North Beach County Park.

KPTZ’s Taylor Clark and Port Townsend City Manager John Mauro were joined by Water Resources Operations Manager Michael Spears and Director of Public Works Steve King. We talked about the situation with our water. The City anticipates starting to draw from Lords Lake about six weeks earlier than normal, and the city just obtained State approval to raise Lords Lake three feet for this drought season which gives us two additional weeks of water than we would have otherwise.
