
KPTZ is excited to welcome pianist Tony Lu to the Trinity United Methodist Church on Thursday, February 27 at 7pm. This is the next installment of our Candlelight Concert series and will also be simulcast on 91.9 FM KPTZ. Tony will perform works by renowned composers such as Beethoven, Gluck, Schubert, Schumann, Faure, and Brahms. Tony teaches music history, theory, classical improvisation, musicianship, and piano literature in Bennington, Vermont, and will give a brief historical background before each piece. A seasoned performer, he has made appearances and given master classes across the United States, and frequently incorporates his own solo transcriptions and improvises cadenzas into his music. His research interests include classical keyboard improvisation pedagogy, piano solo and duet transcriptions of symphonic and chamber works, and 20th/21st-century neoclassical piano repertoire.
